The document includes resumés of Don Morton and Michael Morgan and reprint of a newspaper article, "2 against apartheid, A highly personal war" by Roger Simon. Morton is a South African exile living in Brooklyn, New York who now organizes against apartheid in the U.S. He came from generations of Afrikaners. After working for several years in the gold mines, Morton attended Rhodes University and was then awarded a Rhodes scholarship. Morton was active in student politics, serving on the national executive committees of various student movements. He then served as a Methodist minister for six years. His outspoken views and activities against apartheid led to increased harassment and intimidation. In 1971, after Morton publicly disclosing police torture and the Security Police attempted to arrest him, he fled to London. Don has worked as a consultant on Southern African affairs for the National Council of Churches, USA, for the Program to Combat Racism of the World Council of Churches (WCC), and the Council for Social Action of the United Church of Christ (UCC). Michael Morgan is a 23-year-old South African who deserted from the South African Army and has been living in exile in Britain since 1978. He was educated at a private Roman Catholic school in Durban and studied at the University of Durban. In 1976 he was first drafted for a 12-month period and was quickly drafted again. On his second tour of duty, he was stationed in the war zone of the Namibian border. During this time, Morgan witnessed severe human atrocities and experienced the inhumanity of military service. He decided to desert the Army, leave his home to live in exile, and to fight, instead, in support of the black liberation forces. Having formed a South African war resisters group in London (already over 30 ex-soldiers belong to it), Morgan is seeking to contact South African war resisters in other countries. He is also co-editor of OMKEER, the first South African war resister underground newspaper.
