The mailing says Dear Sisters and Brothers: Our next meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 23 at 7 pm at Longshoremen's Hall; all union members are welcome; the business of the meeting will be "what union and union members can do about South Africa". The mailing says members of the longshoreman's committee who sparked and organized the historic refusal to handle South African cargo will speak on how it was done and how the fight has now been carried to the various Port Commissions. The mailing says there will be a report and discussion on the campaign against Del Monte and Tree Top, the corporations identified with bringing large quantities of South African products at the expense of U.S. jobs, and California jobs. The mailing says the San Francisco Port Commission has been asked to ban South African cargo. Your organization should express itself on this subject to the Commission by mail, or preferably by a personal representative. The mailing says we have previously sent you five resolutions which were prepared primarily for adoption at the AFL-CIO CONVENTION; they have been introduced and are referred to the Resolutions Committee; if you are AFL-CIO, there is still time for you to influence your delegation to the Convention to support one or all of them. The mailing says we enclose a leaflet which we feel will be of educational value to your membership. We suggest that they be sent to or handed out at meetings- membership, stewards, executive, or what have you; upon request we will send you any quantity you wish free. The mailing discusses Fisherman's Wharf, Action Bulletins, and the Ferry Building.
