Invitation to activists to meet on October 28, 1989 in Berkeley in the offices of Tecnica to discuss the urgent need for coordination and networking among the many anti-apartheid organizations in Northern California and the San Francisco Bay Area. We are not aware of each other's calendars, we are not benefitting from shared information about current events related to Southern Africa, and we sometimes inadvertently mis-program events. Thus, we undermine our own effectiveness, do not fully develop our potential strength, and limit our base of support. The mailing suggests beginning a council or network of Bay Area anti-apartheid organizations and activists, holding monthly or quarterly meetings, and discussing ways to support and help each other's work. Prexy Nesbitt, member of the Mozambique Support Network and consultant to the People's Republic of Mozambique, pointed out that the anti-apartheid organizations in the Chicago area have begun to work together in monthly meetings of the type being proposed. The mailing mentions Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU), and National Council of Trade Unions (NACTU).
