The Black Church Support Committee of TransAfrica state that our brothers and sisters in the sub-continent of Africa need the moral and substantive power the Black church can give. They points out that, in many instances, multinational corporations based in the United States are our common enemy. Their statement says that the issues at stake in South Africa threaten the world with nuclear conflict. The committee states that the Black church is the primary institution of influence in the affairs of black people and that they will raise their voice on the issue of apartheid. The statement declares Sunday, June 14, 1981 to be South Africa Freedom Day, in commemoration of the heroism of the children of Soweto on the fourth anniversary of their revolution and the many children who died as martyrs, were maimed and injured, or were forced to flee into Angola, Tanzania and Mozambique. The statement announces that the group's denominational network will launch actions in 100 cities in support of a four-point agenda.
