Mailing advertising a DEMONSTRATION OF SOLIDARITY on August 3 to support a national strike by South African workers to protest the continuing violence and brutal attacks on political and labor activists, and their families and communities. Many thousands of public and private sector employees have recently been fired; for example, three weeks ago, the government fired 7,600 public health workers. Also, negotiations for a new democratic government have been broken off, and the apartheid regime remains firmly in power.
