Letter to U.S. senator Alan J. Dixon, The Hart Building, Room 3126, Washington, D.C. 20510. The letter says Dear Senator Dixon: I urge you to support mandatory comprehensive sanctions against South Africa at this critical time in history and to increase the pressure for change on the apartheid regime of President de Klerk. The letter says the major structures of the apartheid system are intact today; Comprehensive Sanctions are necessary until apartheid is dismantled; all major liberation groups inside South Africa are united in their continued call for isolating the apartheid regime and for full sanctions; you stand up for freedom and democratic rights in other parts of the world; why not in South Africa? The letter says I urge you, as a Democratic Party leader in the Senate, to help bring an end to the scourge of apartheid; support Comprehensive Sanctions. The letter discusses F.W. de Klerk. [Note on date: At several points the Illinois Labor Committee Against Apartheid worked to get people to send letters in support of sanctions to Senator Dixon.
