The leaflet says the demonstration on August 8 honors the struggle of South African women against apartheid; on August 8, 1956, 20,000 South African women marched to Pretoria to protest extending pass laws to women. Demands on the leaflet are: 1. End Apartheid! Strengthen sanctions 2. Support the ANC demand for a non-racist, non-sexist Constitution! and 3. Support the demands of South African union sisters and brothers for decent wages and conditions! The leaflet says the events were initiated by the Coalition of Labor Union Women (CLUW) and co-sponsored by the Illinois Labor Network Against Apartheid and Chicago women's organizations.
