DEMONSTRATION • Questions • Minutes of the Rhodesia Coalition meeting of January 4, 1976. Vince Klingler asked people to attend the meeting of the Philadelphia Coalition on Angola the next day. The minutes say the name of the organization will be changed to Southern Africa Solidarity Committee. One priority is to study the origins, history and present role of the liberation movements in Angola, South Africa, Namibia, and Zimbabwe, like the MPLA, UNITA, FNLA, ZANU, ZAPU and ANC. Another study should focus on the MPLA's base in the working class and to what degree has Angola been proletarianized. After the Madison conference, the Washington Office on Africa requested a meeting of the steering committee, to be made up of the 17 groups interested; eleven groups, including ourselves, have nominated themselves to be on the Committee. The minutes mention political developments, written programs, history of U.S. involvement, committees, FRELIMO, fighting anti-communism, and New American Movement (NAM).
