Jennifer Davis and Boyer briefed the ABC team that went to South Africa to film the News Closeup "Adapt or Die." Already this year, two important leaders from the black trade unions have been to our office to share information and to be briefed on the U.S. trade union movement. The Africa Fund's study ANGLO-AMERICAN CORPORATION OF SOUTH AFRICA: INVESTMENTS IN NORTH AMERICA has been widely discussed in the press, for example in "Africa News," "African Business," "Australian Financial Review," "International Herald Tribune," "International Trade and Investment," "Los Angeles Times," "Sunday Star" Toronto, and "Washington Post." Recently, a reporter from the ''Wall Street Journal" spent considerable time in the office working on a story. A report on the attempt by American Leisure Corporation to sell a majority interest in its Atlantic City Casino to a South African-based hotel chain appeared in the March 30 issue of "The Sun" of Atlantic City, with essential background from our office. The South African hotel chain is related to Anglo-American. Since publication of NAMIBIA'S STOLEN WEALTH: NORTH AMERICAN INVESTMENT AND SOUTH AFRICAN OCCUPATION, Gail Hovey has been invited to speak and write in The Friedmann Series in International Law at the Columbia Law School on the topic "Namibia Under International Law." Maintaining the research files, by Richard Knight, Hovey, and our student interns, is essential for responding to interest generated by our publications. Our study on Bophuthatswana is ready for publication, and we have begun work on "Women in South Africa." South African propaganda efforts in the U.S. will be a major upcoming project. The report also mentions ''Church and University Action Against Apartheid: A Summary of Withdrawals and Divestments," "Torture and Repression: Human Rights Violations in South Africa," pass law arrests, and removals.
