Dr. Garcia will also be asked to show his recent slides of Mozambique. Marjorie will draft a resolution to the City Council calling for closing the South African consulate. The Coalition Against South African Trade (CAST) plans to focus on educational campaign about South African trade. Marjorie will review Tom's list of Washington businesses involved in South Africa. Patricia needs help staffing Celebrate Central America table. CAST will sponsor the weekly South African Consulate demonstration on April 10, focusing on the fate of the Sharpeville 6, for whom the stay of executions expires on April 17. Patricia is working on a joint action in May with local Palestinians connecting Israel and South Africa. Next CAST meeting is on April 19 at American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) headquarters. Bill Corr was authorized to send telegram to Premier P.W. Botha. SLCAA will send condolences about Dulcie September and $35 from proceeds of mugs and shirts to benefit the African National Congress (ANC). Bill Clifford will draft and mail letter of support for Moses Mayekiso based on info in Jerry's paper Unity. CAST is endorsing Jesse Jackson's campaign, but the consensus was that SLCAA should not be involved in non-South African issues, which might compromise our dialog with other unionists. Video - we need to inventory what we have available and write a script. Bruce thinks Seattle Central Community College (SCCC) has editing facilities. People are asked to bring resources for a leaflet and think about union locals to reach out to and a recruiting "hook" to use in speeches.
