After Coke announced plans to restructure its South African operation, a national meeting was held in Philadelphia, which included the Georgia Coalition for Divestment in South Africa, the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC), the American Committee on Africa (ACOA), and the National Black United Front. Other anti-apartheid organizations, including the Washington Office on Africa (WOA) and Nuclear Weapons Freeze Campaign, also were consulted. These groups called for total ''economic disengagement'' and ''comprehensive economic sanctions." In December 1986, a "Fact Finding Team" met with Coke officials about its intended pullout from South Africa. The Team included William Booth, Jan Douglas, Britt Pendergrast, and the Rev. M. William Howard. The Georgia State University (GSU) Board of Regents voted to sell stocks in companies operating in South Africa, after two years of organizing by the Student Coalition Against Apartheid and Racism (SCAAR). Other Coke Campaign co-sponsors and endorsers include the Southern Africa Liberation Committee, Capital District Coalition Against Apartheid and Racism, National Lawyers Guild, National Conference of Black Organizers, New Afrikan People's Organization, Colorado Coalition vs. Apartheid, U.S. Out of Southern Africa Network, Black Student Organization for Communication, Florida State University Students Anti-Apartheid Committee, Fellowship of Reconciliation, War Resisters League, SABOC-NY, International Council of African Women, the Atlantic Committee on Latin America, ACTWU-Southern Region, and American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME).
