July 1985

Leaflet advertising a march on July 27, 1985 to protest human rights denial in South Africa and U.S. business/financial support of the South African police state at the Texas Coin Exchange, the local seller of the Krugerrand gold coin. The leaflet says FOSATU (Federation of South African Trade Unions) urges support for international disinvestment and pressure on the Government of South Africa. A "State of Emergency" has been declared in South Africa; on the basis of mere suspicion, police have unchecked power to impose curfews, seize property, and arrest and detain suspects without charge.
