Johnson • THE BOSTON GROUP IS OFF TO A RUNNING START • BRIEFING SESSION ON NAMIBIAN SITUATION FOR TBSG BOARD AND MEMBERSHIP • BACKGROUND ON TRANSAFRICA • TRANSAFRICA BOSTON SUPPORT GROUP LEADERSHIP • The Boston TransAfrica Support Group condemns South Africa’s invasion of Angola, launched from Namibia, as well as the Reagan administration’s veto of the United Nations Security Council resolution on this matter. "Make it in Massachusetts" is the slogan being used to support Bill S. 1138 in the state legislature to divest state employees' pension funds from bonds or stocks in U.S. companies and banks operating in South Africa. The Boston Support Group hosted TransAfrica Executive Director Randall Robinson and Major General Joseph Garba, former Foreign Minister of Nigeria, at a reception at the Museum of the National Center of Afro-American Artists. Holly Carter, Prof. Richard Joseph, Themba Vilakazl, and Prof. Willard Johnson will speak at the briefing on Namibia.
