The leaflet says the Washtenaw County Coalition Against Apartheid (WCCAA) holds a meeting with guest speaker or film on one Sunday of every month at 7:30 pm at either Quaker House or Canterbury House. The WCCAA was established in Ann Arbor more than ten years ago. It is a small non-racial, non-violent group of volunteers that draws members from campus and community and is not affiliated with any political organization. Its primary focus is to provide information and raise consciousness about the apartheid system in South Africa. The WCCAA publishes a newsletter, has a speakers bureau, offers workshops, and sponsors cultural events. The WCCAA is always willing to work with other groups. The WCCAA supports the South African and Namibian peoples in their struggles for liberation from the apartheid system; recognizes the ANC (African National Congress) and SWAPO (South West African People's Organization) as the legitimate representatives of the South African and Namibian people; opposes the South African government's cultural, economic, political and military hegemony and its destabilization policies towards neighboring states. The WCCAA supports comprehensive international economic sanctions against the current South African government and the total divestment of local and state, private and public funds invested in companies doing business in South Africa. The WCCAA acknowledges the racist history of the U.S. and the problems of racism that are prevalent here; its commitment to name and oppose racism wherever it exists also has a local focus.
