Berkeley shantytown protest video; the news of those demonstrations made the front pages of newspapers all the way to Johannesburg and the video documents the police crack down on what was intended to be a peaceful divestment demonstration. The letter says since we last met with you, the University of California Regents voted to divest U.C.'s 3.1 billion dollar investment in apartheid; this is the second largest divesture action in the nation thus far; we see this move as a direct result of the militant anti-apartheid protests held on the U.C. campuses over the past two years; we feel the video illustrates the effectiveness of direct action and militant resistance to apartheid. The letter says we are currently in the process of editing the documentary to include footage of the U.C.
