Paper prepared for and distributed at the National Conference on South African Crisis and American Action in Washington, D.C. March 21-23, 1965 organized by the American Committee on Africa (ACOA). The paper says the South Africa Freedom Action Committee (SAFAC) was founded in Los Angeles in November 1964 by a small group of South Africans and Americans, mentioning members Martin Legassick, Ben Magubane, Judy Dollenmayer, and Kris Kleinhauer. The paper discusses a picket of the South African Tourist Corporation in Beverly Hills in December 1964, Human Rights Week, the Day of the Covenant, the Voortrekkers' defeat over the Zulu army, CORE (Congress of Racial Equality), SNCC (Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee), Catholics United for Racial Equality, the African Students Association of Southern California, James Baldwin, the Los Angeles Times, the Herald-Examiner, trying to persuade dockworkers to refuse to unload South African cargos, stimulating U,S, entertainers and playwrights to boycott South Africa, ACOA, "Contrasts of South Africa," "South Africa's Rule of Violence," "The Bantustan Plan: Fragmentation of a Nation," Sharpeville Day, KPFA, sanctions, and Americans for Democratic Action.
