Minutes of November 10, 1981 meeting of the Coalition Against South African Trade (CAST). Those present were Tom Buchanan, Kevin Castle, Randy Carter, Marti Jacobi, Marjorie Prince, and Patricia Donohue, with guests Kim Huntington and Jo Marie Thompson. A committee will review a draft letter about the nature of UF6 (Uranium hexafluoride. Letters were urged to Norm Rice and Ron Sims. A signal group was formed to review events regarding South African imports, alert the telephone tree (coordinated by Rick Rice), and consider the appropriate first action. This group is composed of Patricia Donohue, Kevin Castle, Jerry Hunnicut, and Tom Buchanan. The next level of phone calls will go to member organizations: Students Against Apartheid, Inland Waters Coalition, Seattle Coalition Against Apartheid, American Friends Service Committee, Church Council, SNAG, All Peoples Congress, Musicians Local, Electricians, Amalgamated Transit Workers, and Labor Committee Against Apartheid. A suggestion was made to demonstrate at the shippers and stevedore companies, not just the piers. Work is being done on a banner for a boat. The minutes say a shipment of UF6 has left Bremerhaven to the East Coast of U.S.; research is being done to locate the shipment and prepare with Spokane activists on action. The group discussed the film "Cry Freedom" about the life of Steve Biko and Don Woods. The minutes say Lady Smith will be in Seattle Nov. 27.
