This memorandum outlines Portlanders Organized for Southern African Freedom (POSAF) and some of it activities. The memorandum notes that POSAF is an umbrella group for several anti-apartheid and peace groups in the Portland area. The memorandum says POSAF organized protests forcing the resignation of Calvin Van Pelt as South Africa's honorary consul in Portland and has supported divestment legislation. The memorandum says that POSAL recently temporarily prevented the unloading of South African cargo at the Port of Vancouver and that local Krugerrand demonstrations ended with the President's Executive Order banning Krugerrand imports.
