Leaflet asking people to picket Shell stations on Saturdays from March 18 to April 29, 1989 organized by the Seattle Shell Boycott Campaign, which is a project of the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC), Cascadia Greens, the Church Council of Greater Seattle, the Seattle Labor Committee Against Apartheid, Seattle I.W.W., the Seattle Nonviolent Action Group, and U.W. Students Against Apartheid. The leaflet also advertises a funeral procession to the Shell distribution center on Harbor Island to commemorate the Sharpeville massacre. Royal Dutch/Shell (the parent company of Shell Oil) is a major sustainer of the racist system of apartheid. It has violated the international oil embargo against South Africa by shipping large qualities of crude oil there, including supplying oil products to the South African military and police. Shell is the target of an international boycott campaign to force it to withdraw completely from South Africa. The leaflet says the campaign is a project of American Friends Service Committee, Cascadia Greens, Church Council of Greater Seattle, Seattle Labor Committee Against Apartheid, Seattle I.W.W., Seattle Nonviolent Action Group, and U.W. Students Against Apartheid.
