Mailing with the text of a telegram sent to Secretary of State George Shultz. The mailing says Father Timothy Stanton, CR, a long-time working priest in South Africa stationed at the Priory, Rosettenville, Johannesburg, was sentenced to six months in prison for refusing to give the South African security police a statement in the case of Karl Niehaus, a student at the University of the Witwatersrand. Niehaus, and two other students since released, was detained by the security police almost three weeks ago just before a SWAPO defector was scheduled to speak at the university. The mailing asks people to send protests to Ambassador Brand G. Fourie at the South African Embassy in Washington, DC.
