The memorandum says at a meeting during spring term 1984 with Drs. Ruth Hamilton, Barrie Thorne, Marilyn Frye, Lee June and David Dwyer, it was decided to hold a second and larger meeting at the beginning of fall term. The memorandum says a coalition of faculty, staff and students to work against any actions, symbols or vestiges of racism and apartheid at the University has been slowly developing over the past several years. The memorandum discusses MSU (Michigan State University), ASMSU (Associated Students of MSU), and Berkey Hall.
