The brochure says ACAS is guided by the following common principles in its approach to Africa and US policy: opposition to colonial and minority rule, support for efforts by African states to end their economic dependency, rejection of an East-West framework for analysis and action concerning Africa, recognition of the right of independent states to choose their own form of social and economic organization, and commitment to protection of human rights.
