Letter to Professor Ed Ferguson at Oregon State University with information about the court case about Oregon divestment, updating the article in the Fall 1985 issue of the ACAS Newsletter. The mailing says the court of appeals has again refused to allow the National Council of Churches, the American Committee on Africa, the National Conference of Black Lawyers, and TransAfrica to file a friend of the court brief, even with the National Bar Association, the United Church Board for World Ministries, the Commission for Racial Justice of the United Church of Christ, 45 of the 90 members of the Oregon Legislature, and U.S. Representative Jim Weaver joining as additional friends of the court. Also, the case against the New Jersey Public Interest Research Group (PIRG), Galda v. Rutgers, has further obstructed the ability of the elected student government to use student fees to fund the divestment appeal. Continuing the appeal requires raising funds. The letter mentions the Association of Concerned Africa Scholars (ACAS), the Oregon Investment Council, Chris Root, and the TIAA/CREF divestment campaign.
