The letter expresses concerns about recent actions by the Western Michigan University Board of Trustees against a number of students and faculty, saying it is unjust for the board to bring criminal charges against its own students and faculty who were merely seeking further knowledge of a situation that has been of concern to people of the community. The letter strongly urges the board to hold open hearings so people can further their knowledge of this international conflict.
