The mailing urges people to express to members of Congress opposition to sending covert CIA aid to UNITA, especially since Jonas Savimbi has been given a platform to lobby Congress this month for continued support of UNITA. The Angolan government has recently reaffirmed its commitment to a multi-party system and has invited UNITA to help draft a new constitution. Despite the Angolan government's efforts towards peace, U.S. military advisors and financial support to UNITA continues, which encourages Jonas Savimbi and UNITA to perpetuate their devastating and unjustifiable war.
