The mailing asks people to urge their Senators to join Senators Simon, Kennedy, Pell, and Cranston to co-sponsor Senate Resolution 301 concerning apartheid's ongoing violence in South Africa, which has already claimed 11,000 lives - more than half of them since Nelson Mandela was released from prison in 1990. Senate Resolution 301 marks the first time the U.S. Congress has addressed apartheid's violence, which President Bush has consistently refused to condemn.
