Mailing including a cover letter and leaflet about the First Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Symposium on Southern Africa on January 29-31, 1987 at Shiloh Baptist Church. This three-day conference on South Africa's regional aggression is sponsored by the Washington Office on Africa Educational Fund in cooperation with the Coalition for a New Foreign Policy and WPFW Radio Station 89.3 FM and supported by the Howard University Student Association. The event will contribute to discussion of strategies for the U.S. anti-apartheid movement. The mailing includes a leaflet "TOTAL STRATEGY": APARTHEID'S REGIONAL WAR. Thursday events include Community Reception and Community Rally Against Apartheid Aggression with keynote speaker Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, president and founder of the National Rainbow Coalition. Friday events include a film showing, a destabilization plenary, and panels on Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland; and Special Targets of South African Aggression: Angola and Mozambique. Saturday events include a film showing and panels on Namibia, Destabilization: A View from the National Liberation Movements, and SADCC and Regional Efforts to End Apartheid Hegemony, and a session on Action Against Apartheid's Aggression - Strategies for the U.S. Movement.
