Leon H. Sullivan, May 1, 1979 • The pamphlet says by 1977 in South Africa, trade union, student, community, black resistance to racist exploitation and police state terror was spreading dramatically; international campaigns for the imposition of economic sanctions against the Pretoria regime were gaining in intensity; foreign corporations with their lucrative investments in South Africa faced insistent demands in their home countries for withdrawal from any involvement with apartheid. The pamphlet discusses the Episcopal Diocese of Connecticut, the General Assembly of the State of Connecticut, divestment, William A. 0'Neill, legislation, bantustans, homelands, citizenship, the white minority government, influx control, pass laws, cheap labor, Prime Minister P.W. Botha, the transfer of American technology, the motor vehicle market, the petroleum market, the computer market, external pressure, American business, American investment, political dissent, Ford, Kellogg, trade unions, unskilled workers, supervisors, the National Key Points Act, the South Africa Defence Force (SADF), sabotage, unrest, General Motors (GM), Ford, petroleum companies, such as Caltex, Mobil, and Exxon, Bishop Desmond Tutu, the South African Council of Churches (SACC), Ben Motsuenyane, Anglo-American Corporation, Anglican Bishop of Port Elizabeth Bruce Evans, FOSATU (Federation of South African Trade Unions), Fikki Ahshene, the National Union of Motor Assembly and Rubber Workers of South Africa, Good Year, Firestone, the liberation struggle, a black South African clergyman, Connecticut's active Anti-Apartheid Committee, and the Terrorism Act.
