This funding appeal points out that IDAF has been able to defend and very often free many child detainees as well as adult detainees and to expose their plight to the world. Many children and adults are still in prison, some of them the true leaders of South Africa. The release of Govan Mbeki of the African National Congress (ANC) is to be welcomed, but many others, including Nelson Mandela, Walter and Zwelakhe Sisulu, and women and men who remain nameless are still in prison.
