The leaflet says many citizens of Connecticut are voicing their support for legislation which will end the investment of State monies in companies and banks doing business in South Africa. The leaflet says two bills calling for divestment were submitted to Connecticut's General Assembly. The leaflet includes excerpts from some of the statements made in favor on the bill by community, labor and church representatives including: James Anderson, Greater Hartford NAACP; James R. Reed, the Greater Hartford chapter of Operation P.U.S.H.; Bettina Borders, Regional Branch Director, Y.W.C.A.; Barbara Blackwell, Black Women's Caucus for Political Action, Hartford, CR; Lou Kiefer, District 91 Organizer, I.A.M. (International Association of Machinists; Bernie McKinnon, UAW State Cap Director; George Springer, President, Connecticut State Federation of Teachers; Howard E. Fargo, President, Local 1716, AFSCME; Jerome Brown, President, New England Hospital and Health Care Employees Union, District 1199; Caroline Bisson, Sister of Notre Dame de Namur, Member, Board of Directors of the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility; and Father Joe Callahan, Holy Cross Fathers, Eastern Province. The leaflet also includes excerpts from a resolution adopted by the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Education in April 1980.
