The memorandum sets out a proposal to discuss at an upcoming meeting - to build at least five shanties with the theme of "the poverty of racism," focusing on divestment, black student enrollment, urban renewal, and the recent replacement of school custodians. The memorandum says this proposal aims to create a different strategy to provide information and give students a chance to participate, to publicize the University's present support of racism to the community at large, to involve a larger segment of the student population, to gain media coverage, and to generate support for divestment action.
