Beginning in January 2000, in partnership with the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), and with the assistance of Bellanet, APIC is launching its first on-line discussion forum: "International Policies and African Realities: an Electronic Roundtable." This pilot project will provide an electronic space in which Africans, North Americans and others can discuss what policy perspectives and understandings of African a reality should shape international engagement with Africa. Panels will include Economy and Development (with Paulina Adebusoye, ECA; Thandika Mkandawire, UN Research Institute on Social Development; Dominique Njiheu, African Economic Research Consortium; and Jacqueline Nkoyok, Confederation of Central African NGOs), Human Rights and Democratization (with Tade Aina, Ford Foundation; and Mazide N'Diaye, Forum of African Voluntary Development Organizations), Peace and Security (with Jakkie Cilliers, Insitute for Security Studies; Angela Hakizimana, Women for Peace Network; Hussein Solomon, ACCORD; and George Wachira, Nairobi Peace Initiative), and Education and Culture (with Lalla Ben Barka, Economic Commission for Africa; and Lupwishi Mbuyamba, UNESCO Luanda).
