This mailing reports on efforts by Congressional conservatives to increase U.S. aid to UNITA since the repeal in July 1985 of the Clark Amendment that prohibited funding for the CIA in Angola. The Reagan administration is already moving to fund UNITA, and a trip to the U.S. by UNITA President Jonas Savimbi is being planned. People are asked to communicate with elected officials and the administration opposing aid to UNITA and to hold teach-ins about Angola. The mailing also includes a "Fact Sheet on Angola and UNITA" with a brief summary of the history of Angola since its independence in 1975, including the involvement of the United States, South Africa, and Cuba.
