Press release announcing that longshoremen refused to unload the South African Pioneer in sympathy with the anti-apartheid picket line organized by the American Committee on Africa (ACOA) and the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) at Port Authority Pier 6. The press release quotes Anthony Scotto, President of ILA (International Longshoreman's Association) Local 1814; James Farmer, CORE National Director; and George Houser, Executive Director of ACOA. It says a joint statement by the three leaders referred to an AFL-CIO resolution that calls upon the United State government to institute economic sanctions against South Africa.
