Press release announcing plans for a picket protesting the unloading of a South African ship, the African Pioneer, at Port Authority Pier 6 in Brooklyn on October 9. The press release says the organizers hope Brooklyn longshoreman will not cross the picket line. The picket is part of a campaign to urge the U.S. government to impose trade and diplomatic sanctions on South Africa. The press release discusses a resolution passed at the 1961 AFL-CIO Convention, in which the International Longshoremen's Association participated, calling for U.S. economic sanctions and the possibility of trade unionists refusing to handle South African goods.
