Cover letter and a copy of letter to President Carter urging that the U.S. must not lift sanctions against Rhodesia after the April 20 internal settlement elections. The argument of the letter is based on conditions set by the Case-Javits amendment to the International Security Assistance Act of 1978. The letter was coordinated by the Washington Office on Africa and TransAfrica and was signed by 185 prominent American scholars, artists, elected officials, and leaders of religious, union, civil rights, and other civic organizations.
