Mailing produced as part of a campaign to get the American Lutheran Church (ALC) to divest from companies doing business in South Africa in support of freedom in South Africa and Namibia. The cover letter says the Board of Trustees unanimously decided to follow the will of the church regarding divestment. The letter, sent to all ALC members of the LCSA (Lutheran Coalition on Southern Africa), says the up-coming meeting of the Church Council meeting will review the trustees' decision. The Church Council can encourage the trustees to begin immediately to reconstruct the ALC stock portfolio. The Church Council also will review the "Goals for Combating Apartheid Through the ALC and Its Members" being proposed by the new Office of Church in Society (OCS). The letter asks people to encourage as many people as possible in their district to write and call their Church Council representative and their Bishop regarding the trustee's decision and OCS goals. The mailing includes a copy of a mailing/letter "Dear ALC Friends of the Lutheran Coalition on Southern Africa Network," a list of the members of the Church Council, and a letter sent to members of the Church Council.
