This document is based on testimony before the United Nations Sanctions Committee in July 1977 by Bernard Rivers, who has been researching oil sales to Rhodesia by five major oil companies (Mobil, Caltex, Total, Shell, and BP) via intermediaries from their South African subsidiaries in violation of United Nations economic sanctions. Rivers summarizes evidence obtained from secret documents from Mobil's South African and Rhodesian subsidiaries that were the basis of "The Oil Conspiracy" published in June 1976.
