In this statement, Wiley argues that renewed U.S. support for UNITA will both harm the long-term interests of the United States and result in an intolerable loss of life and human welfare in Angola. He reported on the petition against U.S. intervention in Angola organized by the Association of Concerned Africa Scholars and signed by more than 500 scholars of Africa.
