Copy of a letter to Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Chester Crocker from the co-chairs of the Association of Concerned Africa Scholars. The letter was accompanied by a petition signed by more than 500 African specialists urging the U.S. not to provide renew assistance to insurgents in Angola. The letter names a number of prominent signers of the petition, including six current and former Presidents of the African Studies Association.
