Jennifer Davis; The Africa Fund
New York, New York, United States
Undated, 1981
4 pages
This funding appeal requests gifts to assist Namibian refugees in Angola. Jennifer Davis writes about her visit to a camp established by SWAPO with 25,000 refugees, with more arriving daily. Refugees there told here of mass arrests and fear of torture by the South Africa government that have forced 60,000 Namibian refugees - many young mothers with children and elderly persons - to flee their homes. The letter quotes Bishop Colin Winter of the Namibia Peace Center about churches, schools and clinics that have been destroyed by the South African defense forces. [Note on date: Davis' visit to Angola was in February 1981. The date of this letter is not known.]
