The mailing argues that U.S. intervention in Angola may prove as tragic and costly as in Indochina. South Africa's invasion of Angola has redefined the struggle in Angola for many African countries; the U.S. is offending important black African countries by collaborating with South Africa. Nigeria denounced U.S. anti-MPLA pressure as "crude bullying." Close to a majority of the OAU, including Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania and Ethiopia, have recognized the MPLA. An opinion piece, The Need To Control, by Anthony Lewis is enclosed.
