The mailing says the U.S. annual contribution of $500,000 for the UN Institute for Namibia has been deleted from the Senate version of the foreign aid bill, which probably will be voted on this coming week. The House of Representatives has retained this funding. The two versions of foreign aid will go to a Senate-House conference committee. The mailing asks people to write their Senators and Representatives and urge them to assure that the U.S. contribution is enacted. The mailing includes Reasons for Supporting the United Nations Institute for Namibia. The mailing includes quotes from Dr. Kenneth Kaunda, President of Zambia, and Sean MacBride, former UN Commissioner for Namibia.
