Brochure issued as part of a campaign to ban imports of South African and Namibian fish into Massachusetts, trade that has become very lucrative for South Africa. In New England, sardine catches have increased in recent years, but the consumer market is heavily infiltrated by sardines harvested off the coast of Namibia, a territory occupied by South Africa in violation of UN decrees. In 1978, the Committee to Save New England Fisheries will seek to have legislation introduced in the Massachusetts State Legislature to prohibit further imports of South Africa fish.
