Description

The press release says the discontent with the rule of Portuguese dictator Salazar by citizens of Portugal has been sensationally illustrated by Henrique Galvao's capture of the cruiseship Santa Maria. But the reason why Galvao turned against Dr. Salazar is not well known. In 1947, as high inspector in Angola, Captain Galvao submitted a confidential report on forced labor in the Portuguese colonies which the Government refused to publish.
