Anne Evens grew up in Chicago, IL. She was a student at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York from 1981 to 1985 where she was co-Chair of the South Africa Divestment Coalition. She later worked as a worked as a cooperant in Mozambique with the Mozambique Health Committee and the Mozambique Agricultural Rural Reconstruction Program.
