The Congress discussion centered on the speeches of President Julius Nyerere of Tanzania and the President of Guinea, Sekou Touré. In North Carolina, 10,000 people came to hear Angela Davis (NAARPR), Rev. Ralph Abernathy, President of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), Raleigh's Mayor Clarence Leichtner, Jose 'Che' Velasquez of the Puerto Rican Socialist Party, Clyde Bellecourt of the American Indian Movement, Rev. Ben Chavis and Charlene Mitchell of NAARPR, and others. Abridged versions of Abernathy’s and Davis’ speeches are included.
