The Ohio Wesleyan Committee on Divestment held educational meetings and events on campus, staffed information tables, printed a “Daily Bulletin,” and distributed petitions beginning in February 1988 or earlier. The Committee organized a petition calling for divestment that was signed by 300 students and faculty members, which was delivered to the Board of Trustees at its February 1988 meeting. The Committee also organized a peaceful protest in that meeting in which students carried a large paper black-and-white chain, which they cut with the demand: “Divest.” (Source: Articles in The Tribune student newspaper.)
