Students Against Apartheid, a student group at Arizona State University, was formed in the Fall of 1985. Students Against Apartheid campaigned to get Arizona State University to divest from companies doing business in South Africa. Students Against Apartheid lobbied the Arizona State Board of Regents for complete divestment from such companies. After the Board of Regents decided to divest in November 1985, Students Against Apartheid concentrated on spreading information about apartheid to the student body. Students Against Apartheid worked in tandem with the Arizona Coalition Against Apartheid based in Phoenix to get city and state divestment. Students Against Apartheid held rallies and benefit showings of several films; money raised was sent to the African National Congress (ANC) in New York.
