The Midwest Coalition for the Liberation of Southern Africa was formed in late 1978. The first Steering Committee of the Coalition was held in November 1978. It was a coalition of existing groups, many of which were on college campuses. It mailing list included individuals and organizations in many states including Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio and Wisconsin. Presumably many of these were part of the Midwest Coalition. [Note: The organization is not to be confused with the Midwest Coalition for the Liberation of Southern Africa based in Detroit founded in 1984.] (Source: various documents of the Midwest Coalition for the Liberation of Southern Africa)
